Photography Price List
With a hindsight, I think I should have stopped doing free work about
a year ago. Yet it was only the end of last year that I started taking
my photography seriously enough to think that I could earn a living from
it. Being made redundant and seeing my bank balance diminishing very
quickly only made me think harder about pricing my services. What should I charge? What would people realistically pay for my
services and my talent? Am I even talented enough to charge anything?
Can people see the difference between my work and their own snapshots?
Should I lower my prices? Should I raise my prices? Why does this
photographer charge £50 session fee and that one – £500? Where do I fit
in?I haven’t got an answer to all of those questions yet. I’ll be the
first to admit I’m not the best business person in the world. I’d much
rather just take pictures and leave prices and payments to sort
themselves out. But I’ve learnt a lot in these past few months, and I’m
hoping that my knowledge can be helpful to those of you who are a bit
behind me in finding the answers.
