Executive Assistant Georgia Maxwell serves in one of the top three leadership positions in the Department of Workforce Development. As Executive Assistant, she works with the Legislature, Congress, business leaders and other stakeholders to advance policies that fulfill the department’s mission of building and strengthening Wisconsin’s workforce.With over 1,600 employees and an annual budget of over $450 million, DWD works with employers to fill jobs, provides training and employment services to workers, assists people with disabilities through vocational rehabilitation programs, enforces workers’ rights, and administers Unemployment Insurance and Worker’s Compensation programs.Executive Assistant Maxwell has over two decades of private and public sector experience in senior management, legislative and public policy. From 2004 until her appointment, she was President of the Maxwell Group Inc., a public affairs, grassroots, and message development consulting firm. She served as leading advocate for the National Multiple Sclerosis Society, Wisconsin Chapter, which was one of her Maxwell Group clients.From 1999 to 2004, she served as Government Affairs Director for the Wisconsin Credit Union League, where she was instrumental in raising the organization’s profile to rank among the top 10 Wisconsin trade associations.Executive Assistant Maxwell worked in the state Capitol from 1990 to 1999, serving as legislative assistant, chief of staff and committee clerk to Senate and Assembly Republican leaders. As committee clerk, she played a supporting role as legislators worked to achieve education reform.
Executive Assistant Maxwell grew up in the Oshkosh area and attended the University of Wisconsin-Madison.
